PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) was established in 2002, initially as a joint venture between PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT PLN (Persero) to manage the Dieng and Patuha geothermal fields. Pertamina contributed 67% of shares at inception. In 2011, the Government of Indonesia assumed full ownership, making Geo Dipa a state-owned geothermal enterprise (SOE). Its business activities cover geothermal exploration, exploitation, and geothermal power plant (PLTP) development.
Geo Dipa currently operates PLTP Dieng (60 MW, COD 2002) in Central Java and PLTP Patuha (60 MW, COD 2014) in West Java. Expansion projects include Dieng Unit 2 & 3 (±55 MW each) and Patuha Unit 2 (±55 MW), which are being progressively developed to increase total installed capacity.
As a government-mandated SOE, PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) receives special assignments to conduct geothermal exploration and drilling risk-reduction programs in new Working Areas (WKP). In addition to advancing prospects such as Candradimuka and Mangunan-Wanayasa within WKP Dieng and Patuha Utara, Geo Dipa is responsible for Government Drilling and SOE assignments in areas including Wae Sano (East Nusa Tenggara), Jailolo (North Maluku), Candi Umbul Telomoyo (Central Java), and Arjuno-Welirang (East Java). These assignments aim to de-risk geothermal resources, confirm reserves, and prepare the fields for future commercial development in support of Indonesia’s geothermal expansion program.
