PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) is a subholding of PT PLN (Persero) under the PLN Power Generation Subholding. PLN IP is assigned to develop and operate power generation assets including geothermal power plants (PLTP) on the downstream (power plant) side, while the geothermal working areas (WKP) concession holder is generally the upstream developer under a Geothermal License (IPB).

Geothermal power plants operated within the PLN IP portfolio include PLTP Kamojang, PLTP Lahendong, PLTP Ulubelu, PLTP Karaha, and PLTP Lumut Balai. In addition, PLTP Ulumbu (±12.5 MW) and PLTP Mataloko (±2.5 MW) are geothermal power plants officially developed directly by the holding company PT PLN (Persero) to support isolated power systems in East Nusa Tenggara, and are currently operated within the PLN Group structure.

Total geothermal capacity operated within PLN Group (including PLN IP portfolio and legacy PLN-developed plants) forms part of Indonesia’s approximately ±2.6 GW installed geothermal capacity. PLN IP’s primary role remains as power plant operator (downstream), while WKP licenses are generally held by upstream geothermal developers.
